CREATIVE EXPRESSION
This lesson was provided to us by our amazing kindergarten occupational therapist, Ashley-Dawn Murphy!
Outcomes:
- experiments with a variety of art materials to create two and three dimensional forms.
- experiments with line, colour, shape, texture and pattern in diverse media to explore and express ideas.

Bonjour! Happy Friday! Whoa! How did Friday get here so quickly!
Happy Mother's day weekend to all of you moms! We had one new sibling born in our class this year and there are two more to arrive shortly! Very exciting!
Since the photo of me with Louie was such a hit here is a little video of my hometown of Baie-Comeau, Quebec. In the video the townspeople decided to cheer each other up with a social distancing parade of sorts. I grew up in the quartier St. Georges part of town. Stay safe my families!

ART, LITERACY
Outcomes:
-uses drawings to illustrate ideas and information, and talks about them.

Make a card for mom and draw all of the things inside that you are thankful that your mom does for you every day! On the outside you can use construction paper or you could colour white paper and then cut it out. A good way to practice cutting round shapes!

Directions:
Using your stuffed animals make up a play to entertain your mom on Mother's Day. Maybe Dad could even record it on his phone!Today's students of the day are:

Normally when a student has their birthday we sing Bonne Fete to them in class. The following students have had their birthdays during the pandemic so have missed out, not only on school celebrations, but on birthdays with their friends! A very happy belated birthday to:
Maria, Kian, Nicole, Gustavo, Daniella, Lena and Christopher. Please let me know if I missed anyone!

Here are today's lessons:

LITERACY, ART
Outcomes:
-draws,records or tells about ideas and experiences
-talks about and explains the meaning of their own pictures and print
-asks questions to make sense of information
-explores and expresses ideas, perceptions, feelings and thoughts in a variety of forms
Directions:
Interview your mother. Ask her some questions such as:
What is your favourite colour?
What is your favourite food?
What makes you happiest?
Who was your best friend when you were my age?
What did you want to be when you grew up when you were my age?
Think about these answers and draw a picture of your mom. Try to make sure that you put as many of her answers as you can in your picture.

RELIGION

Here are the lessons for today!
NUMERACY
Outcomes:
-use direct comparison to compare two objects based on a single attribute, such as length (height), mass (weight  and volume (capacity),colour
-experiences and develops locomotor skills through a variety of activities.
-develops fine motor skills involving finger speed, arm steadiness, arm and hand precision, finger and hand dexterity, and the manipulation of small materials.
Materials: Marbles of different colours
Directions:
-Gather all of your marbles together. Designate one color to each player. For instance, player one gets the red marbles, player two gets blue, and so on.
-Draw a circle where all of the marbles will be placed. All of the marbles in play need to be evenly spaced. Try to allow at least an inch of space between each sphere, creating a ‘marble grid’ in your play area.
-Make sure that the colors of the marbles are placed as randomly as possible.
-The objective of each player is to collect all of the marbles that are their color.
-To collect a marble, players need to use their play marble and hit all of the same colored marbles in the play area.
-A player can enter the play area from any angle, but can only hit marbles that are the same color.
-If the player hits a similar colored marble which consequently rolls and hits another marble of the same color, then he collects both those marbles.
-If the player hits a marble of a different color, he must:
-Return a previously collected marble if he already has one
-Skip a turn if he has yet to collect other marbles
-The first player to collect all marbles of the same color is the winner.

RELIGION
Outcomes:
-through creating expressions of love, to appreciate mothers as a trace of God.
Directions:
Students are to learn the Hail Mary.
-Start by saying the entire prayer to the child and then say it line by line together. 
Try to say the prayer every day for the month of May.

Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Happy Tuesday everyone. I hope that you are all safe and healthy!
Here are today's lessons:
Numeracy
Outcomes
-use direct comparison to compare two objects based on a single attribute, such as length (height), mass (weight  and volume (capacity)
-experiences and develops locomotor skills through a variety of activities.
-develops fine motor skills involving finger speed, arm steadiness, arm and hand precision, finger and hand dexterity, and the manipulation of small materials.
Materials:
Marbles, ruler or measuring tape. Buttons could also be used to play Game #1 but you would throw instead of roll.
Directions:

Game #1
This game is one called, "Closer to the Wall". My little 90 year old mom would play it with her brothers.
-start by taping a line for your starting point on the floor. You could also use something else to show where the starting line is.
-Players take turns rolling their marbles towards the wall. They then measure (in centimetres) how close they are to the wall. They could also write down their distance for additional number writing practice.
-The player who rolls the marble  closest to the wall gets to take the other player's marble.
-The player with all of the marbles at the end of the game wins the round.

Game #2
-Draw a chalk circle at least 2 feet in diameter. If there are more players, draw a bigger circle.
-Arrange several marbles in a circle formation inside the chalk circle.
-Each player needs to have one playing marble to use throughout the game.
-To start, the first player should roll their marble into the playing circle.
-The objective is to knock the other marbles out of the chalk circle.
-Each marble is worth one point.
-If a marble is knocked out of the circle, then the player gets to keep that marble and scores a point.
-Players take turns, rolling their play marble around the circle.
-Play marbles are not allowed to leave the playing circle.

-Players can move their marbles by flicking it with their thumb.
-The player with the most marbles at the end of the game is crowned the winner.

Friday already! In case my students are starting to forget what I look like here is a photo of me with my quarantine buddy, Louie.

Here are today's wacky Friday lessons!
Numeracy
Physical Skills and Well-Being
Outcomes:
-relate a numeral,1 to 10, to its respective quantity
-compare quantities 1 to 10, using one-to-one correspondence
-develops fine motor and perceptual motor skills through participation in a variety of activities
Materials:
-nonbreakable cups
-small balls or buttons etc.
Directions:
BEST PLAYED OUTSIDE
Fill plastic cups halfway up with water and place in five rows.
 Label each cup with a score, making sure that the cups closest to the children are worth one point and that the cups farthest away are worth the highest amount of points.
Set out a basket of ping pong balls etc. and have the children take turns tossing their balls into the cups.
 Each player gets 30 seconds to toss as many ping pong balls as they can. The player with the highest score at the end wins.

Physical Skills and Well-Being
Numeracy (Yes, really!)
Outcomes:
-develops fine motor and perceptual motor skills through participation in a variety of activities
-to develop a concept of time and timing
Materials:
1 T-Shirt per person
Directions:
-Soak one T-Shirt per player in water, crumple them up and then put them in a plastic bag.
-Place the bag in the freezer and let it freeze overnight.
-Set a timer.
--See who can unfold and put their T-Shirt on first.
- The person who gets their T-Shirt on first wins!
