Bonjour!
I hope that everyone is staying healthy and managing the best that they can through these crazy times. I'm happy to see more views on my blog updates! We're up to 31 views now out of my 37 students. My intention with the blog posts is to provide tasks where your children are still learning and thriving. Here are a few activities that you might want to try:
Numeracy:
My grandma called this game Snap but it is also called Bataille or War (maybe that's why she called it Snap).
Materials: A deck of cards or little homemade cards with numbers 1-10 (or higher depending on your child). Students could make their own cards out of paper from their visual journals if need be.
Directions:
Divide up the pack of cards equally face down. Each person will turn over the top card in their pile at the same time. The person whose card is of a higher value gets to keep both cards. This goes on until all cards are played. The winner has the most cards.
Physical Education:
Make up an exercise routine with 5 different exercises in it. You could use yoga or other exercises that we have done in class. Add music to them if you can. To remember the steps draw 5 people doing them as best as you can.
There you go! I hope that this makes your day a little easier and your children engaged and happy. Remember, I love it when you send me photos of your child doing the activities!
Stay healthy everyone!
Have a blessed day!
Mme Jane

Bonjour!
I'm glad to see the number of parents who are checking the blog. Unfortunately I have no way of knowing which parents have viewed the blog. Could you please drop me a brief email saying that you are checking the blog. Thanks so much. I would also appreciate any feedback on the info posted to date.
As we are not to post any links which have not yet been approved by CSSD, these tips are straight out of Mme Jane's head!
Art:
Materials: Bright paper can be constuction paper or simply magazine paper. Alternatively they could make their own coloured paper by colouring strips of paper.
Glue, tape or even flour and water mixed will serve as a fixative.
Cutting instrument or your child can rip the paper etc if scissors aren't available.
Google Henri Matisse
Tell the students that when he was bedridden and couldn't paint, he created art by cutting out shapes with bright sheets of paper.
Show your child some examples and then let them create their own Matisse! Please send me a photo of their creation if you are able!
PE
Take turns calling out an animal and the child has to walk like that animal across the room and back. Our classroom favourite is to walk like a Komodo Dragon. Lots of fun!
Stay healthy and virtual hugs to all of my students!

Bonjour Parents!
I hope that you are all staying healthy! Yesterday was quite the emotional day as we packed up items for our students.I miss all of my "Littles"!
As Kindergarten is a little different, for the time being I will be using this blog as the main form of communication when I need to contact you as a group. Please keep checking for emails from Mme Wozny as well. We are in uncharted territories at the moment and are trying our best to set things up to continue to provide learning for our students at home.
I will be answering all of your emails from 8:30- 3:15 as I am currently working from home. As for interviews, if there was a specific area that I thought should be addressed, I will be contacting you.
Today's school away from school suggestions are:-
Literacy:-
Read, read read to your children! This is the most important thing that you can do! After you have read a book set the timer for 5 minutes and ask the students to draw about the story. When the timer goes they may stop or they may continue. When they have finished ask them to tell you about what they have drawn.
Numeracy:
Make up little cards with numbers on them. Hand your child a number and have them collect items of that number of things that are the same. An example might be 6 pens for the number 6. You can do this up to 10 and then keep on increasing the numbers. Do them out of order so that the child identifies the number of items with the numeral itself. Students can do this in english or in french depending on what you are comfortable with.
Stay healthy!
Blessings to you all,
Mme Jane

Bonjour!
Parents are always asking me how to reinforce school work at home. We are currently working hard on proper letter formation especially lower case letters. Extra practice with this is always a good idea.
There is a great series in french called ,"Super Mini". We watched "Super Mini cree des couleurs" today to reinforce colours. All of the Super Mini videos are great educational videos.
Beginners Bible is a wonderful video series of Bible stories for children. We often watch these during snack time.
I'll try to add extra tips regularly.
Have a blessed day!

Bonjour!
We have added an elbow pump to our morning routine instead of shaking hands in Kindergarten. We also went over correct hand washing procedures and how germs enter our bodies through our nose, eyes and mouths mostly. I scrub the tables between classes normally so the children start their classes with clean tables. These are all normal procedures that we will be following from now on as they are good life skills.
Spring is on its way!

Bonjour!
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Wednesday, February 12. Please only write who the valentine is from and do not address the valentines to individual students. We will have the valentines bags all lined up and will just plop the cards in the bags. Please no nut products as we have some students with severe allergies in our class. The morning class has 19 students and the afternoon class has 18. Have a lovely weekend!
