 Bonjour! Happy Wednesday, September 23!

Please check your emails for an invitation to our Google Classroom. It is up and ready to go. I will now be using it as our main mode of communication.

Stay well everyone!

 Bonjour! Happy Friday, September 18.

Over the next week or so I will be setting up a Google Classroom account for my Kindergarten classes.

It will be much like the blog but a more effective way of communicating. You will be able to set up alerts so that when I post something you will know right away.

In the event that there is a case of Covid-19 in our classroom, our classroom as well as myself will be isolated for two weeks. If I am well during this time I will use Google Classroom to support your child's learning from my home. In the event that I am unwell a substitute teacher will be providing the lessons.

I hope that we will not be in the above situation but I just want to prepare for any possible scenario.

This week please check you child's backpack for forms coming from the school.

Have a blessed weekend!

Mme Jane

 Bonjour!

There is no school for students on Thursday, September 17 and on Friday, September 18. The 17th is Parent-Teacher Conferences for Grades 1-6 and the 18th is a Professional Development Day for the teachers.

Today is our first day in Kindergarten with everyone in class and things are running very smoothly.

Have a wonderful day!

 Bonjour!

It was so wonderful to meet with you all over the last few weeks! The Kindergarten students are all settling in nicely. They are so good at wearing their masks and at sanitizing their hands. I am so proud of them!

You might have noticed that there are parent teacher conferences this week. They are not for the Kindergarten parents as we had ours earlier. I am always available during weekdays until 6pm to answer any of your questions however.

We have a little one with a severe nut allergy this year so please be extra vigilant with what you put in your child's snacks. Some good snack ideas are a cut up apple, a banana, cheese and crackers or a nut free granola bar. Water is the best liquid to send. Remember these are just snacks not lunches.

I'm looking forward to Monday when all of my students will be together in their class. The best line of the week came from a little girl who said to me," Mme Jane ! How did you ever know to put me beside my new best friend!"

Have a wonderful week!

Bonjour!

Last Friday was our last day for lessons for your child's Kindergarten year. I really enjoyed my time with all of your children. What a wonderful bunch! I do however feel somewhat cheated out of this very important year with your children. It took so many people to teach your child this year. Even though I provided lessons it was you, the families, who implemented them. Your children were taught by moms, dads, sisters, brothers, aunties, uncles, grandmas, grandpas and friends. As they say,"It takes a village to raise a child". Thank you all for the wonderful job that you did and for all of the photos that you sent in.

This week I will be at school. I will be phoning each of you to discuss what next year might look like. We have a few different scenarios ready to roll once the government lets us know which we are to follow. Rest assured that Calgary Catholic School Division puts your child's needs first and foremost. The teachers at St. Luke are working away to provide a safe and engaging environment for your children in which to learn.

Please give your child the giant hug that I would have given them on the last day of school for me. Those hugs, I think, are what I miss the most.

As you all know by now, our amazing vice principal, Mme Yacey is retiring. She taught the Kindergarten students gym. In March as a gift from the Kindergarten classes we had begun a painting for her as a farewell gift. Not everyone had a chance to paint on it. On the last day that the students were in class, Daniella from the afternoon class said to me, "Mme Jane, what if we don't come back to school. Who will finish Mme Yacey's painting?"
My answer was, "If you don't come back, I will finish it for you." I finished it and I gave it to Mme Yacey. She loves it. Here is the photo of her with her painting. The crazy thing is that her dress looks just like the painting!
I look forward to seeing you all in September. May your summers be blessed with happiness, joy and good health!
